Myrtos beach is famed for its crystal clear blue water and white sand. Ιt is rated in the top ten beaches of Europe  and in the World. It's astoundingly beautiful, just like on the picture postcards, and featured in "Captain Corelli's Mandolin", starring Nicolas Cage and Penelope Cruz. Backed by steep limestone cliffs, this two-kilometer stretch of white shingle gives onto a moody sea, which changes colour from milky turquoise to indigo with the swirling of the waves.
Facilities on the beach include a snack bar, sunbeds and parasail hire, showers, W.C'S and telephone. Whilst development is restricted within the beach vacinity, there are a couple of nice Tavernas at the start of the access road down to the beach in Divarata.

Melissani cave is located close to the town of Sami, about 20km from Argostoli, the capital of Kefalonia. It is without a doubt one of the most significant places for tourists to visit in Kefalonia. Surprisingly there is a lake inside the cave that has trees and forests surrounding it. The sight is simply magical. The cave itself has the shape of a B with 2 chambers separated with an island in the middle. The roof of one of the chambers has caved in centuries ago letting the sunlight shine into the lake and making it a breath-taking sight. When the sun is right above at noon, the sunlight hitting the turquoise-blue waters create a magical illusion and the whole cave of Melissani suddenly fills with blue light. At noon is the best time to visit the cave and enjoy a relaxing boat-ride with a traditional boat at the lake. The cave of Melissani is 36m high, 40m wide and 3.5m long. A balcony was built on top of the cave for tourists to get a spectacular view of the inside from the top. The lake has a depth of 20 to 30m. There is also stalactites and stalagmites in the cave that enhance its beauty. The cave of Melissani leaves a memorable and lasting impression to everyone who visits it..

Drogarati Cave, which is close to Sami, was discovered 300 years ago, when a part of it was destroyed because of a strong earthquake, and so the entrance was created.
The cave's depth is 60m. from the ground level and it is open for the public since 1963.
It's got many stalactites and stalagmites created from the rain. In the big hall of the cave (900m2), call "Sala of Apotheosis" because of its perfect acoustics, music and other shows are organized.

Ainos mountain is the highest mountain on Kefalonia and in all the Ionian islands, at an elevation of 1628m at its summit (around one mile above sea level). In comparative terms, it's higher than Ben Nevis in the UK (1344m) and just slightly higher than the city of Denver, Colorado, USA (1609m).
The views from the summit are worth the trek up. On a clear day the whole of Kefalonia, most of Ithaka and parts of Zakynthos, Meganissi and Levkas are visible, also Kyllini and the mainland coast.
